In an ironic twist of fate, Michelle Obama is starting to piss me off more than her baby-daddy. How the hell did that happen?
It seems that she is championing an anti-obesity campaign, "Let's Move". Like so many other things this woman does, on the surface, it sounds like a good thing. And I'm sure elements of it might actually be good. I don't know. I'm not interested in moving much more than I do at present, so I haven' t been paying a lot of attention.
BUT... what she is now suggesting is that restaurants be required to control children's portion sizes, and offer carrots and apple slices instead of french fries and soft drinks, among other things.
Who the hell is this woman??
Is she seriously suggesting that restaurants be forced to do what parents ought to be doing - teaching children to make THEIR OWN healthy choices, and setting the example for them? Since when did this become the job of any government?
This broad is in a position where she can influence the creation of laws that dictate to you what you can put in your child's mouth. Governments have no business in my refrigerator. And don't doubt it. It will extend to adults, too. Mark my words.
Here's a link to an article from the New York Daily News, which is usually absolutely pro-Obama, that also believes this woman is overstepping her bounds, interfering in the rights of parents to make appropriate choices for their children. It's a very well-written, humorous but scarily-true letter written to the First Lady. (Ohh, how it pains me to call her that.)
This is happening in the United States, so why am I worried about it? Because Canada, being the spineless country that it is, will eventually follow whatever the US does, but call it their own, well thought out idea. Haven't you noticed this pattern before? Canada won't be far behind, especially if it smacks of socialism, which this does.
So, better go get that Happy Meal, before they becomes decidedly unhappy.
